New legislation means that logs sold in quantities under two cubic metres must have Ready To Burn certification.
Firewood labelled as Ready to Burn has a moisture content of 20% or less.
Ready to Burn logs and briquettes burn more efficiently than unseasoned, green wood and reduce environmental impact.

Domestic Fuels Legislation
The government started phasing out the sale of wet wood sold in small volumes (under 2m3) in England from 1 May 2021. This legislation forms part of the UK commitment in the Clean Air Strategy to reduce emissions of damaging
air pollutants by 2020 and 2030.
This is monitored by Woodsure Ltd, the DEFRA appointed Certification Body who administer the Ready to Burn Scheme as recognised in The Air Quality (Domestic Solid Fuels Standards) (England) Regulations 2020.
Air quality and wood fuel has become a hot topic and stove owners are being asked to think about the impact of burning poor quality firewood has on the environment.
A stove is only as good as the wood it burns and so the Ready to Burn stamp of approval will reassure customers who purchase firewood with its logo that they are dry enough and immediately ready to burn.
Using dry, Ready to Burn logsimproves the efficiency of any appliance. It is a simple step to reduce
your impact on the environment.
Wet wood creates smoke and particulates that are harmful to your health and the environment. It will also damage your stove and chimney and is an inefficient way to heat your home.

- Protect from direct rain
- Keep off the ground
- Allow air to circulate
- Do not closely cover logs, leave them on wet ground or open to the elements
INDOOR STORAGE
Always keep an adequate distance between your stove and your firewood as this may cause them to ignite
