IMPLICATIONS FOR ALL UK FUEL COSTS
We all know the problems of energy supplies from Russia – no need to remind anyone of the consequences of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. We’re well aware that for many of you fuel costs are already a serious problem, but would advise all our customers who have the space and available finances to lay in as much wood as possible before prices become prohibitively expensive.
We feel it’s important you’re aware of the following:
- Until now, most UK kiln-dried wood has come from Eastern Europe, Belarus and Russia. There’s simply not enough homegrown wood to meet demand.
- The shipping cost in 2020 for a container of wood was £1800. The latest shipping quote I’ve had from my suppliers is £5400!
- Kiln-dried wood prices are rising all the time and very likely to increase still further prior to winter 2022/23.
Our advice is NOT intended to encourage panic buying! We’ll constantly monitor the situation and make adjustments as necessary. And will continue to buy until it’s no longer financially viable, though we hope we never get to that point!
ACS ISN’T MAKING MONEY FROM PRICE INCREASES, BUT AS A RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS WE’RE CONCERNED FOR OUR CUSTOMERS’ WELFARE.
